The electronic age means convenience and portability, not to mention many hurdles removed from publishing. ISFS books are available as eBooks from such popular sites as Amazon.com, Lulu, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and Apple iBooks. Whether you own a Kindle, Nook, iPad, or any other tablet or smart phone with reader software, you can find a format that fits your device.

Local Library
One of the greatest values for readers is their local Public Library. Shelves and shelves of books by authors world-wide are available for taking home for 2, 3, or 4 weeks. Libraries in the U.S. and elsewhere also stock audiobooks, typically as CDs, and many also have websites with extensive eBook collections. At the public library branch close to our home there is a set of shelves dedicated to local authors. Having edited all the current ISFS books into paperback, I submitted them to our local library for consideration. Staff review the books to look for readability and any content that the library would not want to carry, then stock approved submissions. I was delighted in a recent visit to see my books added to other local authors on the shelf. I may never find out how many people have checked them out, but having another outlet is very gratifying.

Switching Publishers
The decision to switch publishers is tough. As a purely "self" published author, there are several outlets I could choose from, each with their pros and cons. For now the paperback copies of my books will remain with Lulu.com. As time allows, eBooks are going to change first to Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing site, then to another. The advantage to Amazon's site is ease of use and global reach. The downside is lack of ability to have the eBooks available on other sites like Apple, Kobo-Rakuten, and others. I'll work to keep links on this website current for all my books. Suddenly, this author thing is starting to feel like WORK!

The Staff is a Paperback
This month the next edition of Tales from Inter-Space Freight Services, Ltd. - The Staff has been completed and formatted as a paperback book on Lulu.com. The same online distributors as the other books should list The Staff in paperback form for $17.59 by the end of the month. Next up? Deciding on a new publisher for the eBook versions and re-listing on all the source sites.
